Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare polyester pellets with low impurity content such as dust, acetaldehyde, etc., by washing polyester pellets with water or an organic solvent after or before the solid-state polymerization, thereby extracting the impurities from the polyester.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of high molecular weight polyester pellet by the solid-state polymerization of polyester pellet having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4W0.8, the pellet is washed with water or an organic solvent having a boiling point of ≤190°C before or after the solid-state polymerization. The polyester polyethylene terephthalate pellet having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4W0.8, can be prepared by the polycondensation of bis-β-hydroxyethyl terephthalate or its oligomer under reduced pressure in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst.
