Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the flocky adsorbent which improves the speed of adsorption of uranium, etc. by a method wherein the adsorbing active component powder of a complex system is cohered by polyacrylic acid hydrazide.
CONSTITUTION: The approximate one portion of compound active component powder consisting of activated carbon, a metallic hydoxide such as titanium hydroxide, etc., a basic carbonate, etc. is dispersed to 100wt. portion water, approximate 1W10% polyacrylic acid hydrazide is added to the complex as an approximate 0.1W 5% water solution, and cohering bodies are formed by means of treatment such as agitation, etc. The cohering bodies are changed into insoluble shapes by means of maintenance at room temperature, etc. With the flocky adsorbent, the speed of adsoprtion is faster than conventional granular adsorbents in the collection, etc. of uranium from seawater, and the large quantity of adsorption is obtained.
