Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to read a document accurately by improving S/N by obtaining three primary colors of light by processing a corresponding sensor output while operating light sources for red, white and yellow lights in time-division mode.
CONSTITUTION: Three primary color light sources, white, yellow and red light sources 11...13, are put into operation in time-division mode to irradiate document 1 and information obtained through reflection is led via lens system 14 to photoelectric converting element 15, which converts it into an electronic signal. Its output is sent to analog switch 16 to open the switch sequentially by clock 10 synchronizing with the time-division operations of light sources 11...13 and voltages obtained while light sources 11 ...13 are lighting up the document are held by sample holding elements 17...19 for white, yellow and red colors. Further, sample-held values corresponding to blue and green colors are obtained by amplifiers 20 and 21, and output signals of three primary colors, red, green and blue, are obtained by gate 22. Consequently, document 1 can accurately be read with S/N improved.
