Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a movable portion of a tool magazine and increase the tool changing efficiency, by providing a rotary indexing shaft with a tool grip via a four-piece link, and an actuator for moving the tool grip toward and away from a main shaft. CONSTITUTION:A link support member 34 is provided at an upper end portion of a rotary indexing shaft 30, and it is one of the parts of a four-piece link mechanism consisting of the link support member 34, a grip holder 38 and links 35, 41. The grip holder 38 is provided with a grip 37 which is adapted to clamp a thick end portion Ts of a shank 7 of a tool T. The link 41 is provided with a universal joint catcher 43 which is cooperated with a fluid pressure unit 50 adapted to actuate the link mechanism for attaching or detaching a tool T to be newly used or to be replaced to or from a main shaft 12.
