Abstract
PURPOSE: Title tackifier which exhibits good flexibility and excellent shock resistance even at low temperatures, prepared by applying a pressure-sensitive tackifying layer to a polymer base consisting of polyvinyl chloride resin and a specific copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride polymer having a polymerization degree of 900W1400 are added 1W30pts.wt. of a copolymer consisting of a monomer having conjugated double bonds and other vinyl monomers, such as an acrylonitrile/ butadiene/styrene copolymer and a methyl methacrylate/butadiene/styrene copolymer and 10W50pts.wt. of a plasticizer such as diethyl phthalate or a polyester. The resulting mixture is formed into a polymer base in the form of sheet, film or tape (0.01W0.3mm thick). Then, in order to obtain the tackifier for surface protection, the polymer base is coated with a pressure-sensitive tackifying agent such as natural rubber of acrylic rubber so as to form a tackifying layer having a thickness of 5W200 microns.
