Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the treating efficiency of chromatography, etc., by making the descending speed of treating liquid in a packed tower uniform by detachably providing a liquid-collecting bottom with a baffle wall to the bottom of the upright column of a packed tower. CONSTITUTION:The liquid-collecting bottom 8 of an inverse conical form, etc., having the shoulder portion 7, is provided to the bottom of the upright column 6 of a packed tower. The porous supporting plate 9 is inserted between the bottom 8 and the bottom of the upright column 6, and then the filter cloth 10, etc., is placed on the upper part of the porous supprting plate 9 so as to prevent the falling of the packing 3 to the liquid-collecting bottom 8. When a treating liquid is flowed down from the inlet pipe 4 at the tower head, the flow rate of the treating liquid is reduced by a baffle wall provided at the bottom of the upright column 6 until the flow rate along the circumferential portion of the tower becomes nearly equal to the flow rate inside the tower, thus resulting in uniform treatment. Then, the liquid is taken out of the discharge pipe 5.
