Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a miniature flow meter of simple constitution which provides accurate measurements of flow rates by compensating the temperature drift of an output voltage, by providing auxiliary permanent magnets of the opposite polarity to main permanent magnets, arranged sandwiching a pipe, at both terminal parts of the main permanent magnets.
CONSTITUTION: Along pipe 1 through which a conductive liquid such as liquid sodium flows, main permanet magnets 2a and 2b are provided so as to measure the flow rate of the conductive liquid by making use of a voltage developed between electrodes 3a and 3b. In this case, auxiliary permanent magnets 6a and 6b, and 7a and 7b of the opposite polarity to the main permanent magnets are closely arranged. Consequently, electromotive force with its level suppressed through the terminal effect of a magnetic field of an eddy current is generated at electrodes 3a and 3b. Although the suppressing power of this electromotive force decreases as a temperature rises, the intensity of the magnetic filed of the permanent magnets also decreases. For the purpose, the increment of the electromotive force through the terminal effect is set equal to the decrement of the electromotive force by the permanent magnets, so that the constant electromotive force can be obtained without reference to variation in temperature.
