Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a polarizing film excelling in durability, by adsorbing iodine polarizing element on a hydrophilic high molecular film more than the specified amount, and removing the excess of polarizing element adsorbed on the film surface to adjust to the desired transmittance.
CONSTITUTION: Iodine polarizing element is sufficiently excessively (at least not less than 5% of the desired transmittance) adsorbed on a hydrophilic high molecular film, such as saponified polyvinyl alcohol and cellophane, and the film is let stand under high temperature and high humidity conditions of about 50W90°C and about 90W100%RH, and the iodine polarizing element on the film surface is removed until the light transmittance of the film becomes the specified value. Thus, a polarizing film is formed.
