PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of breakage in cutting and obtain superior toughness by restricting the content of nitride and carbon-nitride of metal, content of metal carbide, content of Co or Co alloy, thickness of alloy layer, and the hardness of alloy layer. CONSTITUTION:An end-mill made of super hard alloy has the constitution of 0.5-50wt% of nitride and carbon-nitride of metal, 0.5-50wt% of metal carbide, and 2-30wt% of Co or Co alloy, and the part except frontal edge and the main edge over a prescribed length from the top end is formed, to a depth of at least 2mum, of an alloy layer having a Vickers hardness 5-50% lower than the hardness of the inside layer.
