Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture an electrically conductive Al alloy wire rod with superior heat resistance by subjecting a continuous-cast ingot of an Al-Zr-Fe-Si alloy to rolling and heat treatment under specified conditions with little lowering in electric conductivity.
CONSTITUTION: When an electrically conductive Al alloy contg. Zr; 0.1W1.0%, Fe; 0.05W0.8%, and Si; 0.04W0.30% is melted and subjected to continuous casting and rolling to manufacture a wire rod, continuous casting is strated at a molten alloy temp. of 950W720°C in a mold heated to 80W200°C. The molten alloy is cast so that the cooling rate of the resulting ingot becomes 20°C/sec or more in solidification. Prior to continuous rolling the ingot is cooled at a cooling rate of 60°C/min or more, and rolling is started at a temp. of 550°C or below and a reduction ratio of 40% or more so that it is finished at 350°C or below. The rolled material is optionally cold worked at a reduction ratio of 65% or more and is heat treated at 250W 450°C for 10W400hr.
