Abstract

PURPOSE: A rubber composition which has excellent extrusion properties and provides vulcanizates having excellent physical properties which, at high temperatures, change little with the lapse of time, comprising an emulsion-polymerized butadiene polymer which is solid at normal temperature and a soft, low-molecular weight, emulsion-polymerized butadiene polymer.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100pts.wt. of a polybutadiene rubber or a butadiene/styrene copolymer rubber having a styrene content of at most 50wt% (these rubbers are solid at normal temperature, have a Mooney viscosity [ML1+4(100°C)] of 30W65, and are prepared by emulsion polymerization) is mixed with (B) 5W100pts.wt. of a polybutadiene or a butadiene/styrene copolymer having a styrene content of at most 70wt% (these polymers have a viscosity-average molecular weight of 1.5×104W 10×104, and are prepared by emulsion polymerization) so that the resulting composition has a Mooney viscosity [ML1+4(100°C)] of at least 20.
