Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce a processing step and improve a recognition precision, by extracting feature points of input picture elements on a basis of contents of two continuous scanning line information and by inspecting existence of stroke start points to extract the intersection.
CONSTITUTION: Picture information of picture input device 2 is converted to binary information by quantizing circuit 3 and is transmitted to picture memory 4. The output of memory 4 is given to horizontal scanning unit 5h and vertical scanning unit 5v, and scanning information of units 5h and 5v are stored in scanning memory 7-1 of feature point extraction circuits 6h and 6v of the same constitution respectively, and next scanning information is stored in scanning memory 7-2. Connection condition decision circuit 8, width measuring circuit 9, AND gate 10, line length counter 11, line length condition set circuit 12, and comparator circuit 13 constitute a stroke detection circuit to detect whether a prescribed number of or more black elements having a line width of a prescribed value or less are continuous or not. This output and outputs of start point and end point discrimination circuit 14, etc., are given to data memories 17h and 17v, and coordinates of existing intersections are outputted from comparator circuit 20 through circuit 18 for operation between start point and end point coordinates.
