Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the mixing of the fuel-air mixture and to even the distribution of the mixture to cylinders by providing the suction manifold assembly of a multi- cylinder internal-combustion engine with a venturi and arranging a fuel injection nozzle directed into the venturi.
CONSTITUTION: A collected suction pipe 31 fitted with a flowmeter 32, throttle valve 15, and control valve 16 is communicated with each cylinder 1 by a branched suction pipe 7. The valve 16 is opened later than the valve 15 through the function of a negative-ressure controller 17. An auxiliary suction line 11 is provided for communicating each cylinder 1 to the point between the valves 15 and 16, and the fuel-air mixture is fed to each combustion chamber 4 in the form of a vortex. A venturi 14 is formed in the pipe 31 on the upstream side of the valve 15. On the upstream side of the venturi 14, a fuel injection valve 33 is provided to be directed to the axis of the venturi 14. The fuel injected from the valve 33 is sped up by the venturi 14 for speeding up the mixing thereof with air.
