Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a speed detector which has a very small thickness, no problem in reflection efficiency and no limitation to a slit, by radially placing numerous light transmission fibers and providing a light emitter and a light receiver in face of both the ends of the fibers. CONSTITUTION:Numerous optical fibers 1a are radially fixed at an equiangular spacing on the bottom of a rotary disc 1. Both the ends of each optical fiber 1a are bent toward a center shaft 2 so that the inner end is used as a light inlet part i and the outer end is used as a light outlet part o. A light emitter 3 and a light receiver 4 are secured in face of the light inlet part i and the light outlet part o, respectively. When the rotary disc 1 is rotated, a revolution speed signal can be obtained from the light receiver 4. This results in providing a speed detector which has a very small thickness and is not limited as to reflection efficiency and a slit.
