Abstract
PURPOSE: A paint having well-dispersed carbon black and retaining dispersion uniformity for a long time, comprising a specific copolymer as a principal constituent and a pigment at least part of which is carbon black.
CONSTITUTION: In an organic solvent, such as toluene or methyl ethyl ketone, there is dissolved 100pts.wt. of a copolymer consisting of 80W30wt% of vinyl acetate, 20W70wt% of an acrylic monomer comprising an alkyl (meth)acrylate, wherein the alkyl group is of 1W8C, and 0.01W10wt% of a basic monomer, such as dimethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate or 2-vinylpyridine. To the resulting resin solution 5W50pts.wt. of carbon black and, optionally, other known paint pigments are added.
