Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect a long-term, high-efficiency nitrogen oxide removal by using a catalyst consisting of oxides of titanium, vanadium, molybdenum, etc. in an ammonia contact type reduction process for waste gas which contains alkali metal salts.
CONSTITUTION: In an ammonia contact type reduction process for nitrogen oxide contained in the waste gas from a sinter furnace, a glass melting furnace or in waste gas contg. alkali metal salts, the catalyst consisting of titanium oxide, vanadium oxide, and molybdenum oxide or tungsten oxide is used. Weight ratio of catalyst consisting of titanium, vanadium and molybdenum is specified in a range V2O5+ MoO3/TiO2=1W30/100 and V2O5/MoO3=3/97W97/3. The catalyst is highly resistant to poisonous effect of alkali metal salts and is highly efficient in removing nitrogen oxide for a long period of time.
