Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent wrong counting, by irradiating light upon the upper and lower ends of a stack of different kinds of bills mixed and disarranged with one another and by detecting double feed in terms of the reflected light and raising an alarm or the like.
CONSTITUTION: Stacked bills 6 pinched by a bill stack holder 3 are turned over one by one by a suction head 1 on a rotary cylinder 2 and then conveyed. The instant each bill is attracted on the suction head, light 12 is irradiated upon the lower end of the bill by a signal of synchronization with the rotary cylinder 2 and the reflected light 13 is received by photoelectric converters 15AW15D to detect the position of the lower end. After a very short time, light 19 is irradiated upon the upper end of the bill and the transmitted light 20 is received by photoelectric converters 22AW 22D corresponding to the kinds of bills, thereby detecting the position of the upper end. Output signals are processed in a comparison circuit. When different kinds of bills are mixed with each other, a peak point holding circuit is operated to generate a discrimination signal to detect double feed.
