Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance of an apparatus for treating or storing a caustic alkali soln. to the soln. and the wear resistance thereof by manufacturing the apparatus using a Cr-Ni-Fe alloy.
CONSTITUTION: In order to protect a caustic soda producting equipment or apparatus from corrosion due to NaOH, NaClO3, NaCl, etc. and abrasion it is manufactured using a Cr-Ni-Fe alloy having a compsn. consisting of Cr 35W75%, Ni 25W65%, Fe<20%, C<0.2% and N<0.5% and present within the range bounded by the following four points of the Cr-Ni-Fe ternary phase diagram: A point (Cr 35%, Ni 65%), B point (Cr 35%, Ni 45%, Fe 20%), C point (Cr 55%, Ni 25%, Fe 20%) and D point (Cr 75%, Ni 25%). 0.05W6% in total of one of more out of Ti, Zr, Ta, Nb, Mo, Mn, W, Co and rare earth elements may be added to the alloy.
