Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture α-type hemihydrate gypsum without passing through a reaction under strongly acidic conditions by forming a gypsum slurry in an oxidation tower in a wet desulfurization process and treating the slurry at pH 5W8 and 90W150°C.
CONSTITUTION: A limestone slurry from tank 1 and sulfur dioxide in exhaust gas 4 are reacted in absorption tower 3 to form calcium sulfite and gypsum. The resulting slurry is adjusted to pH about 4W5.5 in pH adjusting vessel 7 and fed to oxidation tower 10, where the calcium sulfite is oxidized to gypsum with air 11 introduced. This gypsum-base slurry is then fed to reaction vessel 14 and retained at about 90W 150°C for about 30minW2hr to convert the gyspum into α-type hemihydrate gypsum while adjusting the slurry in vessel 14 to pH 5W8 with the limestone slurry from tank 1. The hemihydrate gypsum is separated from the slurry with separator 17 and taken out.
