Abstract

PURPOSE: To cut off injection of fuel exactly after an injection stroke by using a fuel return bypass connecting a valve case of a fuel injection pump to a fuel intake port.
CONSTITUTION: A plunger 1 is housed in a plunger barrel 2, moving up and down in cioncidence with an engine to compress fuel fed from a fuel intake port 4. A valve retainer 5 containing a plug-type outlet valve 13 rests on the barrel 2. A connection passage 13a is located in the valve 13, currently connecting to a fuel reserve well 7 formed in the retainer 5. A valve case 5a on the valve 13 is connected by a port 15a to a nozzle omitting the view. As the valve 13 descends, fuel return bypasses 8a, 8b are opened through to connect the valve case 5a to the intake port 4, with a check valve 4 interposed between the bypasses. After injection stroke, fuel in the case 5a may be fed back into the port 4.
