Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently oxidize S2O3 2- into SO4 2- in a short time, by performing the aeration treatment of S2O2 3--containing drained water such as waste water from a sulfide ore mining pit, in the presence of both S bacteria at a high density and an acid-proof substance.
CONSTITUTION: A separated bacterium liquid containing S bacteria and an acid- proof porous substance such as diatomite are added into a unit which is partitioned into an aeration vessel 3 and a sedimenting separation vessel 4 by a vertically movable partition plate 2. Air 6 is measured at 7 and introduced into the unit through an air dispersion pipe 5. Waste water 8 containing S2O3 2- is injected into the unit through a fixed quantity pump 9. At that time, a solution 11 of ammonium phosphate is supplied as a nutrition source through another fixed quantity pump 12. The S bacteria increase in the aeration vessel 3. The S2O3 2- is oxidized into SO4 2- by the S bacteria which adhere to the diatomite and are enriched. A liquid in which SO2- is contained and the diatomite holding the enriched S bacteria being suspended are conducted to the sedimenting separation vessel 4. Drained water containing the SO4 2- is neutralized and then released. The diatomite 13 falls along the oblique wall of the vessel 4 and is returned to the bottom of the other vessel 3.
