Abstract
PURPOSE: To maintain the nozzle end at a high temperature and sprue bushing at a low temperature by providing a heat-insulating spacer made of Ti-base alloy or heat-insulating layer between the nozzle end and sprue bushing of the captioned device and reducing the heat radiation from the nozzle end to the metal die.
CONSTITUTION: A spacer 31 made of Ti-base alloy is fitted between the end of the nozzle 15 of the nozzle device 11 of the hot-chamber die-casting machine and sprue bushing 19. This Ti-base alloy is high in melting point and is refractory metal of high strength whose heat conductivity at room temperature to 600°C is 0.015W 0.030cal/sec.cm.°C, 1/10W1/3 that of general steel materials, and Young's modulus is about 1100kg/mm2, about 1/2 that of steel materials. Hence, it is highly flexible and elastic and makes close contact with the respective contact faces of the nozzle 15 and bushing 19, thereby enabling the prevention of leakage of molten metal. In addition, the heat radiation from the nozzle 15 end to the bushing 19 is less and the nozzle 15 is readily maintained at a high temperature and the bushing 19 at a low temperature. In the passage 12, it does not solidify the molten metal 9 at all and in the bushing 19 it cools and solidifies the molten metal 9 with good efficiency.
