Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently descale a metal strip at a low cost by keeping the temp. of an electrolytic soln. by use of the potential heat of the strip when the strip is passed through the soln. to be descaled by electrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: Metal strip 2A of above 70°C uncoiled from uncoiler 1 is introduced into cell 4 by guide roll 3 and continuously passed through electrolytic soln. 5 filled in cell 4. Current is supplied to strip 2A from conduct roll 6. Electrode 7 is set to a position opposite to strip 2A, and current is supplied between strip 2A and electrode 7 to descale the strip. The descaled strip is coiled round coiler 10 through washer 8 and dryer 9. It is desirable that the temp. of metal strip coil 2B attached to uncoiler 1 is above 100°C, and soln. 5 is pref. kept at above 70°C.
