Abstract

PURPOSE:To avert entry of air into injection orifice and achieve the prevention of clogging by communicating the chamber containing the ink injection orifice of head front part and a storage vessel by means of a conduit and providing a cap which selectively opens and closes the ink path opening of front cover. CONSTITUTION:An ink injection orifice 6 is contained in the front part of an ink jet head 1 and a front cover 15 which defines a chamber 14 cooperatively with the front wall of the head 1 is mounted. This cover 16 is provided with an opening 16 for passage of ink, said opening 15 being so arranged as to be selectively opened and closed by a cap 17 when the head 1 is in the home position outside the printing work stroke. This cap 17 when inputted with the signal of halt is pressed to the front of the cover 15 by a suitable actuator such as solenoid device or the like so as to close the ink path opening 16. Thereby, entry of air into the injection orifice may be beforehand averted and clogging prefectly prevented.
