Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an organopolysilazane high polymer having a high polymerization degree and useful as an anti-foaming agent, water repellent, binder, etc., by thermally reacting an organopolysilazane oligomer in the presence of a clayey solid catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: An organopolysilazane oligomer expressed by the formula (R is alkyl, etc.; 0<a<3) is compounded with preferably 1W5 wt.% of a clayey solid catalyst, e.g. activated clay, etc. The composition is thermally polymerized preferably at 150W250°C to give the desired organopolysilazane high polymer.
