Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title product which is hardly demagnetized by heating or pressurization, resulting in little transfer, by dispersing crystal nuclei made of Co- dissolved iron oxide magnetic powder obtd. by a specific method in an aq. soln. contg. a ferrous salt and a Co salt; adding an aq. soln. of alkali of a limited concn.; and heating the alkali-added dispersion to carry out epitaxial growth.
CONSTITUTION: A sol. Co salt such as CoCl2.6H2O is dissolved in an org. solvent such as polyethylene glycol, and ferromagnetic Fe3O4 powder is dispersed in the soln. The dispersion is then heat treated to uniformly disperse Co in the Fe3O4 particles, thus obtaining Co-dissolved iron oxide magnetic powder. The resulting crystal nuclei are dispersed in an ag. soln. contg. a ferrous salt and a Co salt. After adding more than one equivalent of alkali to the salts, the dispersion is heated pref. to 150W300°C to epitaxial grow Fe-Co oxide-based crystals on the unclei.
