Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance 6016 having a melting point of 192W 195°C (decomposition).
USE: Useful as coccidiosis protectants and acaricides. Powerful antibacterial actions particularly against Gram-positive bacteria. Improvements in feed efficiency of ruminants, treatment of diarrhoea of cattle due to dysentery, and circulatory failure.
PROCESS: Bacteria which come under the genus Streptomyces and have an ability to produce an antibiotic substance 6016 are cultured, using a nutrient, e.g. a carbon source, such as glucose, starch, etc., or a nitrogen source, such as soybeam meal, corn steep liquor, etc., at 25W35°C, preferably 30°C, and the substance 6016 is taken from the cultured product. Streptomyces Sp. No.6016 bacteria (FERM-P No.4285) are preferably used as the microorganisms which produce the substance 6016 advantageously.
