Abstract

PURPOSE:To effect electrostatic powder coating of synthetic resin powder on a desired part in spots or narrow strips, by applying charged powder carried by a conveying gas to an article, and by sucking and recovering the uncoated powder. CONSTITUTION:The top of the rivet 5 to be coated of the article 1 comprising the metal plates 2 and 3 which are joined by the rivet 5 is placed under the electrostatic coater. Coating synthetic resin powder, which is suspended in the supply gas and supplied from the pipeline 18, is charged by the electric field-forming electrode 15 of the charging unit 19, sprayed on the top of the rivet 5 via the spray nozzle 14, and adsorbed and applied to the rivet 5 and surroundings 6 by the electrostatic field formed between the electrode 15 and the vicinity of the rivet 5. The uncoated excessive powder is sucked and removed from the suction holes 22 and recovered via the suction pipeline 23.
