Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the simultaneous communication for both terminals by having the switching use of the semiconductor element between the light emission function and the photo detection function. CONSTITUTION:At the transmission time, the semiconductor element is switched to the light emission function through terminal 14, and the optical signal is emitted from the semiconductor element according to the input signal which is sampled 2 via sampling pulse 1. At the reception time at terminal 7, the semiconductor device is switched to the photo detection function to convert the incident rays into the electric signals. In this case, the switching between the light emission and photo detection functions is performed through allotment of the sampling pulse which is divided into two parts. Therefore, one cycle of communication is carried out in one sampling pulse period: the transmission with terminal 14 for reception with terminal 7 and the transmission with terminal 7 for the reception with terminal 14.
