Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide excellent composite contact material through internal oxidation method, by treatment of an alloy contg. principally Ag-Bi under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal of an alloy contg. principally Ag-Bi is cast to ingot, which is pulverized to small scaly pieces, then it is compressed in a metallic die to give a molded item of voidage 5W10%. The item is pressure-molded at a temp. not lower then 700°C and lower than 825°C in oxidizing atmosphere to a voidage not higher than 2%. The item is further heated and sintered, and is subjected to extrusion and drawing repeatedly in order to increase the strength and density of the material, thus producing contact material.
