Abstract
PURPOSE: Decorative press-molded products composed of the top surface layer of gel-coat resin containing pieces of metallized polyester film and the back layer of unsaturated polyester resin, that have natural stone-like patterns, thus being useful as tops of sink and basin and can be made by mass production.
CONSTITUTION: Decorative sheets are produced by press molding the top surface layer of a moxture of gel coat resin containing metallized and colored films cut into pieces measuring 0.1-0.5mm in leength, an accelerator and a curing agent that is coated on the mold and the back layer of a mixture of an unsaturated polyester resin, a filler, an accelerator and, when necessary, pigments and glass fibers. The thickness of the top surface is made about 0.3-5mm and the back surface is more than 5mm. The molded products are excellent in luster and have surfaces with high resistance to wearing and chemicals and high impact strength due to the back surface. The molding operaton is simple.
