Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a control method for an internal combustion engine which can decrease fuel comsupmption, can aliminate misfriring over a wide range of running conditions, and can smoothyl run the engine.
CONSTITUTION: In an internal combustin engine in which a duplex carburator 3 is attached by way of a suction manifold 2, a control valve 15 adapted to close when the engine has a low load applied thereto is provided in the downstream of an artificially operated primary throttle valve 14 in a suction passage 11 which is connected to a combustion chamber 7 by way of a suction valve 12. an auxiliary suction passage 16 is provided which is branched from the suction passage 11 between the throttle valve 14 and the control valve 15, bypassing the control valve 15, and is joined to the suction passage 11 again in the neighborhood of the suction valve 12. During partial lead running, the control valve 15 is held to be fully close or slightly open by operation of a negative pressure responsive means 18 due to the fact that the suction negative pressure is low in the downstream of the throttle valve 14, thereby quickly increasing the amount of suction air supplied by way of the auxiliary suction passage 16 to cause high apeed vartex flows to appear in the combustion chamber 7 and also to delay the point of time at which the highest combustion pressure appears to effect on appropriate combustion.
