Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title catalyst with high catalytic efficiency to unit transition metal and good grain size by bringing a solid reaction product of a hydrocarbon sol. specific org. Mg cpd. and a Si-H bond-contg. chlorosilane cpd. into contact with Ti or V halide, followed by treatment with an organometallic cpd.
CONSTITUTION: A solid reaction product of a hydrocarbon sol. cpd. of formula MgR'uR"v (where each of R' and R" is 4W6 C sec. or tert. alkyl, etc., 0≤u≤2, 0≤v≤2 and u+v=2) and a cpd. of formula HaSiClbR4-(a+b) (where a>0, b>0, a+b≤4 and R is a hydrocarbon radical) is brought into contact with Ti or V halide such as TiCl4. The resulting solid substance is then treated with an organometallic cpd. such as triethyl Al. Using this catalyst a catalyst removing process can be omitted and a polymer is produced having high bulk density and narrow MW distribution.
