Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the durability and performance, by forming a film on aluminum and its alloy surface, by improving the corrosion resistance of an aluminum fin and at the same time by increasing the hydrophilic property of the fin surface.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a heat exchanger with a part or all of its constituent member materials made of aluminum and its alloy is treated with an aqueous solution 1 containing a silicic compound. After this, by treating it with an alkaline aqueous solution 2 containing an alkaline earth metal, a film is formed on the surface of the aluminum and its alloy. As a silicic compound to be contained in aqueous solution 1, water-soluble or water-dispersing silicic salt may be used. As an alkaline earth metal compound to be contained in alkaline aqueous solution 2, hydroxides, oxides, chlorides, acetate and nitrate of various alkaline earth metals may be used
