Abstract

PURPOSE:To enlarge the locating range for insertion of a probe into a tube by not preventing the leading wires of the probe, which are equipped with plural light quide members, from approaching one another by the guide members. CONSTITUTION:Guide members 9, which are filled with gases in a preset pitch and which are made of synthetic resin having a low weight and a low friction coefficient, are fixed to the leading wires 7, which carry locating probes 3 at their leading ends, such that the wires 7 do not prevent the guide members 9 from approaching one another. With such construction, when a liquid such as water for dipping the locating probes 3 is supplied from a drive device 11 by means of a pump, the light guide members 9 are made to approach and leave one another so that the probes 3 are moved satisfactorily in a bent heat transfer tube 10 by the pressure difference between the liquids at the both sides of the members 9 so that a flaw in the tube 10 can be located in an ultraxonic manner. As a result, the locating range of insertion of the probes can be enlarged by means of the members 9 which have a low weight and a small size.
