Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title water-insoluble resin with a slight coloring in the production, to be dried in a shorter time, having improved absorptivity and rapid absorption, by grafting a water-soluble polymerizable monomer onto starch and/or cellulose to give a thin film of a graft copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: b) A water-soluble polymerizable monomer or a polymerizable monomer becoming water soluble by hydrolysis, or b) the monomer and c) a crosslinking agent are grafted onto a) starch and/or cellulose in an aqueous medium, if necessary followed by hydrolysis, to give a graft copolymer. A 1W50 wt.% aquious solution or aqueous dispersion of the graft copolymer is cast and dried at 100W 180°C within 10 minutes. For example, the thin film B of the material A is cast onto the rotating heating roll 1 by the casting roll 2 and the resulting dried film C is stripped from the roll 1 by the scraper 3 to give a thin film. The weight ratio between a), b) and c) is 100 : 10-3,000 : 0.0001-20
