Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain calibration characteristics of high accuracy with the flow meter being held incorporated in the loop by generating magnetic fields in the direction perpendicular to the flow of conductive fluid and providng a pair of electrodes at a right angle to the magnetic fields with the flow line in-between. CONSTITUTION:A pair of magnetic poles 21, 21 are disposed by sandwiching a duct 20 of a stainless steel in which Na 26 being conductive fluid flows, by which magnetic fields 27 are generated in the direction perpendicular to the duct 20. Next, with the duct 20 in-between, a pair of first, second electrodes 22, 23 are provided for electric field detection in the direct perpendicular to the magnetic fields and further a third electrode 34 is provided upstream on the electrode 22 side and a fourth electrode 25 at the same distance downstream on the electrode 23 side. Here, when pulsating currents are applied across the second, third electrodes 23, 24 and are detected with an ammeter 32, then the super-voltage proportional to the velocity of flow is produced by the magnetic fields 27 and the flow of the Na 26 and the proportional current flows in the circuit 28 and therefore this current is detected with an ammeter 29. The flow rate of the Na 26 is obtained from the correlations of both ammeters 32, 29 and the flow meter is calibrated. Thereby, the flow meter may be calibrated with high accuracy.
