Abstract

PURPOSE: To make easy for the namufacturing and to enable small size unit, by constituting the coupling part at the both sides of the line through the placement of the parallel line in spiral, in the parallel line directional coupler of 1/4 wave length.
CONSTITUTION: The parallel line D in one side length and W in width is placed with the distance S in polygonal spiral. The incident wave to the terminal 1' is distributed to the terminals 2' and 3' and is not appeared at the terminal 4'. The total length of the parallel line is 1/4 wave length. With this constitution, since coupling is made at the both sides of line, the distance obtaining the desired degree of coupling can comparatively be widened, allowing easy manufacturing, and small size unit can be made with spiral shape, realizeing the micro wave integrated circuit easily. Further, the spiral shape can be made to arbitrary shape such as circular shape, and the number of turns is not limited to two turns and it can be taken more than or less than that
