Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a FM modulator which can perform FM modulation stably even if the level of modulated signals is made higher and uses the phase synchronous oscillation period generating no step-out, by providing further an AFC loop dependent upon a frequency discriminator outside the phase synchronous loop.
CONSTITUTION: Output S1 of oscillator 2 which has the oscillated frequency changed by the applied voltage and the phase of reference signal S1 are compared with each other in comparator 4, and signal S3 corresponding to the difference and S4 obtained by controlling S1 by frquency discriminator 5 are added in adder 6. Added signal S5 is applied to control terminal 2a of oscillator 2 through LPF, and further, input modulated signal S7 is amplified and applied to this terminal. Center frequency fO of oscillator 2 is held at a prescribed value by S6 and is subjected to FM modulation by S7, and output S1 is taken out from terminal 9. Since output S1 is also controlled by frequency discriminator 5, no step-out is generated even if the level of modulated signals is made higher or the setting of a leading-in range is shifted by temperature change and so on, that f0 can be maintained with a high precision
