Abstract

PURPOSE: 3-Carbamoylisoxazoles are used as the starting material thereby preparing 3-isoxazolylurea used as selective herbicide by simple operations and shorter steps in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between a carboxyamide of formulaI(R is H, alkyl, aryl; X is H, halogen, R and X may incorporate to form alkylene) and an amine of formula II (R1 is H, alkyl alkoxy; R2 is alkyl aralkyl, aryl) is conducted in the presence of an alkali hypohalite such as sodium hydrobromite or calcium hypochlorite, and an alkali hydroxide at 10W150°C under 1W30 atmospheric pressure to form the objective compound of formula III (formula IV is pyrrolidino, etc.) The amount of the amine used of formula II is 1 mole or more, preferably about 2 moles per mole of the carboxyamide of formulaI.
