NEW MATERIAL:Aminoglycoside derivatives expressed by formulaI: [R is H, lower alkyl, or aralkoxycarbonyl; R1 is CH2NH2, CH2OH, CH(CH3)NH2, CH(CH3)-NHCH3; R2, R3, and R6 are H or OH; R4 is OH or NH2; R5 is NH2 or CH2NH2, R7 is OH or CH3; R8 is H, CH2OH, CH2OCONH2; the broken line indicates the presence or absence of double bond] and their salts.
EXAMPLE: 1N-(3-Hydroxyazetidine-3-carbonyl)kanamycin A sulfate.
USE: Antibacterials having an enlarged antibacterial spectrum and a powerful antibacterial action effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Useful as pharmaceuticals and drugs for animals.
PROCESS: Compounds of formula II are reacted with compounds of formula III or their reactive derivatives to form the objective compounds of formulaIor their salts.
