Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a packed oxygen absorbent obtd. by packing a compsn. changing its color through absorption of oxygen with a packing material, at least part of which is transparent, so as to observe a change in color of the compsn. through the transparent part from the outside.
CONSTITUTION: A ferrous cpd. such as ferous sulfate, an alkaline cpd. such as slaked lime, and a sulfite such as Na2SO3 are optionally mixed with metal powder such as reduced iron and additives such as activated carbon to prepare a compsn. changing its color through absorption of oxygen. This compsn. assumes, e.g. a color near blackish green, and as it absorbs oxygen, it finally assumes a light brown color through blackish brown and brown, losing its reactivity with oxygen. The compsn. of a blackish green color is filled into a transparent packing bag or a bag having a transparent window, and the bags are packed with a transparent barrier packing material 10W50 at a time for storage before use. At the time of use, a necessary no. of the bags are taken out and charged into a package together with foods, metals, etc. to observe a change in color of the compsn.
