Abstract

PURPOSE: A composite molded article having balanced improved tensile and impact strength, by controlling the residual stress of a molded article comprising needle-like crystal gypsum fibers and polyvinyl chloride resin in a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of polyvinyl chloride is blended with 5W70pts.wt. of needle-like crystal gypsum fibers, 2μ or less in diameter, to give an aspect ratio ≥10 in a molded article, and molded to provide an average residual stress ≥100kg/ cm2, preferably 110W250kg/cm2 on the basis of the whole molded article. The residual stress is controlled by lowering the temperatures of sizing parts in extrusion, molds in injection molding, and cooling parts in pressing to increase the cooling rate.
