Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover the by-produced organic acids from the oxidized liquid obtained by the oxidation of cycloalkanes, in high recovery, suppressing the formation and accumulation of polymerized products, by a simple process, by extracting the acid with an alkali solution in an amount necessary to neutralize the specific ratio of the total organic acids.
CONSTITUTION: Cycloalkanes, are oxidized with oxygen or oxygen-containing gas, and the by-produced organic acids in the oxidized products are extracted with an alkaline solution. The amount of the alkali is 0.1W50%, pref. 0.5W30% of the amount necessary to neutralize the whole organic acids.
EFFECT: The content of free organic acids in the extract is remarkably increased.
