Abstract
PURPOSE: To make identification of cores easy and enable the cable to be constituted to a smaller diameter in the case of constituting the optical fiber multicore cable by adding dyes or pigments to the silicone rubber covering the optical fiber strands.
CONSTITUTION: A mother rod 2 is heated in a heating furnace 3 and an optical fiber 1 is spun to an outside diameter of, e.g., 150 μm. After spinning, the fiber 1 is passed through a silicone rubber pot 4 such as the one comprising adding 0.2 wt% of dyes to cold-crosslinking type methyl silicone of two-part type, thence it passes through a heating furnace 4', whereby it is covered with a primary coating layer 5 of e.g., 125 μm thick. Thereafter, the fiber is taken up on a take-up machine 6.
