Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a color killer detection circuit for the SECAM-system color television signals to perform the color killer action through a simple circuit constitution with no demodulator circuit required.
CONSTITUTION: The chromaticity signals given from chromaticity signal input terminal 1 are applied to mechanical oscillator 19 after extraction of only the back- porch area via the back-porch gate signals given from back-porch gate signal input terminal 17. Oscillator 19 features the central frequency of 282fH≈4.41MHz or 272fH≈4.25MHz and functions as a frequency discriminator. The output of oscillator 19 is applied to envelope curve detection circuit 20 to obtain the pulse flow featuring the fundamental wave of fH/2. The pulse flow is then applied to tank circuit 21 to extract only the fH/2 component, and the output level of the fH/2 component is converted into the direct wave through amplitude detection circuit 22. Then the color killer signals are generated when the DC level is less than the preset threshold level.
