Abstract

PURPOSE: An organic acid cellulose ester resin composition capable of giving molded articles free from deterioration of properties, having improved discoloration prevention in hot molding, comprising an organic phosphite and a saturated aliphatic polyhydric alcohol.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) about 0.01W1 part by wt. of one or more types of organic phosphites of formulas I,II,III, and IV: (R1WR9, R1'W Rm+1' are H, 6W23C alkyl, aryl, alkoxyaryl, or aryloxyalkyl groups except when all groups are H's; X is 1W23C aliphatic or aromatic chain; n is an integer ≥ 1; m is an integer ≥ 3), (B) about 0.01W1 part by wt. of one or more types of saturated aliphatic polyhydric alcohols, e.g. ethylene glycol and trimethylolpropane, and (C) 100 parts by wt. of an organic acid cellulose ester. Cellulose acetate with an acetyl group content of 52W62 wt.% and a cellulose acetate propionate with a propionyl group and a acetyl group contents of 54W57 wt.% and 6W10 wt.% may be preferred as the resin.
