Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the exhaust of CO and enable the satisfactory operation of a controller, which regulates actuators for controlling the fuel flow rates in fuel systems of a carburetor, depending on a value detected by an exhaust gas sensor.
CONSTITUTION: The actuators 4a, 4b, which are electromagnetically opened or closed to connect or disconnect the atmosphere to air bleeders of the main and auxiliary fuel systems of the carburetor 3 by utilizing the intake negative pressure, are controlled through a control circuit 7 depending on the output of the exhaust gas sensor 6 to obtain a mixture with a desired air fuel ratio. Secondary air feeders 9W20 and a ternary catalyst 22 are sequentially placed at the downstream side of the sensor 6. The control circuit 7 is so formed that the actuators 4a, 4b are do not work during the period of idling and the secondary air feeder 9W20 are put in operation only during the period of idling and the subsequent period of 0.1 to 1 second.
