Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the narrow track magnetic head of easy production and high accuracy by bonding a ferrite core formed with a magnetic gap to a non-magnetic slider pad then polishing the core to a desired track width. CONSTITUTION:A slider pad 1 composed of non-magnetic material, e.g., alumina, SiO2 and barium titanate or the like is so formed that stable floating force is easy to obtain by making use of the air current opposed to a magnetic disc and flowing along the disc face. Notched serration faces are formed at the end parts of both side faces 2 of the slider pad 1 and their serration is so set as to become a desired track width. A ferrite blocks 6, 7 by glass 5 forms the magnetic gap part of the head. This yields the head that can sufficiently withstand polishing in terms of strength, enabling the head to be formed with much narrower track width and yet with high accuracy and good yield.
