Abstract
PURPOSE: A specific mold is cultured to produce nocardicin A useful as an antibiotic with industrial advantage.
CONSTITUTION: A baceterium producing nocardicin A, which belongs to Streptomyces, e.g., Streptomyces alcalophilus No. A-635, is cultured in an enriched medium, preferably at a pH over 7.5 at about 30°C for 50W100 hr, by the submerged cultivation. Then, cell bodies are separated by centrifuge or filtration and nocardicin A is isolated from the filtrate by chromatography, concentration under reduced pressure, and others.
